69 P1 teams by 2023
With the new schools joining the Big 12, 61 G5 schools at that time (barring any P1 expansion). Pretty much looks like the new subdivision is forming.
Then you take the P1 deciding to stage their own basketball championship, and inviting the 5 other big basketball conferences to join in that, Big East, AAC, A10, MWC, and WCC, then you have a very nice television package that will generate huge money. Currently, the deal is over $1B a year, and I'm sure the P5 could negotiate a better deal at let's say $1.5B a year. The P5's take $1B and split to $200M a conference, and the other 5 split $500M for $100M per conference.
Roughly, each P5 would get $14.5M yearly from the new tourney, and the O5 would get about $8.1M per school per year. That's a whole lot more than what they get now.
